ECCC Sunshine Zero Recap...
I was going to do a complete write-up of ECCC (Emerald City Comicon) from last weekend, but time ain't working with me, so here's some highlights...
We did a bunch of sketches for some really cool folks! The one drawback to con sketching is you don't get to scan it in before you hand it off! Ah well...if the people go away happy, that's what it's all about. Here's some of the stuff we drew for people at the show...
Nayeli and Nu almost got into a fight about which fighter was better, Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter. Everything calmed down quick, though, and she ended up getting a couple sketches from us. Nu's right though...Mortal Kombat sucks. XP
Steve Dorris was a caricature artist roaming the floors. While strolling buy our table he noticed a Burt "Smokey" Reynolds sketchcard I had out for sale. He offered to do a caricature of me as a trade for the card. I was hesitant, but accepted the offer, and ended up with a great caricature! (I'll post that later) Afterward he asked if I could draw him Supergirl (the cutoff tee animated series version) with a specific request. I'll leave you to figure out what that was.
Parker and his family happened upon our table as overflow from the Axecop table next to us. Luckily they dug what they saw and asked for a Deadpool sketch! I haven't drawn Deadpool much, but every time I have it's always been fun. Parker and the family liked the piece so much, they asked us to draw something for their daughter. I think Nu drew her a Wonder Woman, but I can't remember, and I don't think we go a picture of it. Oh well...
This is Adam, and he gets the award for "craziest request" for the show. He had a themed sketchbook that featured artists drawing him as various super dudes and super dudettes! I had the honor of drawing him as Catwoman. This was a lot of fun to do. I opted for the Halle Berry movie outfit, because...why not?
I don't remember this dude's name, but he and his wife were walking around with their own theme sketchbook. This one was of "original characters." I went ahead and passed on my Hillbilly Hero, Cracker Ace! Always fun to draw him, and he seemed to be well received, which made it even better!
We did other sketches, but we didn't get a chance to get pictures of everything. Notes for future cons I guess.
In addition to doing lots of drawing and selling prints and books, Nu and I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging with some cool people. We sat right next to the brothers behind the internet sensation, AXECOP, as well as the too awesome for words Doug TenNapel! We got to meet and sketch with Jesse Labbe and Anthony Coffey, the dudes behind the great "Berona's War"! We met (and Nu sketched for) the lovely Vicky B. of 99.9 KISW (picture on the right). And we also got to meet the real life superhero, Phoenix Jones and his posse of Rain City Superhero Movementeers! I did up a Phoenix Jones print special for the show, so it was cool to see him dig it, and want a couple to hang up at home.
You can see pics of Phoenix Jones holding my print, and a shot of me getting ready to taze him in the posts below. (video of said tazing to be hitting our Youtube channel very soon!)
There was some Sketchbomb-Seattle establishin' madness going on; breakfast with superstars; our buddy Justin "Jusscope" Orr's birthday donut shaped sketchbook suprise; and lots of Charlie Sheen quotin'! It was literally #WINNING and #TIGERBLOOD all damn weekend...and it was glorious.

So yeah, ECCC for the second year in a row (for us) was a great show. Let's do it all again next year!

ECCC Print Preview: Phoenix Jones
Hey gang! Junior Bruce here with a quick preview of a print I'm going to be offering at Emerald City Comicon this year of Seattle's very own, Phoenix Jones.
I originally had the idea to do this print about a month ago, and wanted to originally contact the dude himself to see about working out an "official" print of some kind with him. Unfortunately I couldn't find any contact info I could really trust, and I'm not one of those uber web-savvy geeks who know how to mug the internet for info. If the internet had fingernails, I would have gotten some bamboo shoots and gone to town, but it doesn't, so I didn't.
To the right is a little mini-bookmark style print I plan on having done for the con. It's of Marvel's Deadpool. He seems to be a pretty popular dude.
That's all I got for now.
